U.S. Military

Two things have occurred in the past week that going to continue to harm the way that the U.S. military is viewed worldwide.

First, 4 out of the 5 top officers overseeing Abu Ghraib were cleared. Then, today, the U.S. soldiers who killed the Italian intelligence officer who rescued the Italian journalist were cleared of any culpability in his death at the Baghdad checkpoint.

I don't know what to think of the Italian intelligence agent case. There are two very conflicting reports of those that were in the car, including the journalist, and the soldiers at the checkpoint.

At Abu Ghraib, it's typical how harshly those that got caught in the photos have been treated while their officers have faced little to any ramifications for what they did. I believe that the same things that happened at Abu Ghraib have been happening at Guantanamo Bay and in Afghanistan. The only difference is that people at Abu Ghraib were stupid and arrogant enough to take photos.

Smokers

I'm not sure I'll ever understand why educated, intelligent people smoke cigarettes given all the knowledge that's out there about what they do.

I started a new job about three weeks ago, and there is a group of 5 or 6 that take several smoke breaks a day. I just don't understand.

It's a new blog

So, I have a journal over on Livejournal.com, but I decided I wanted to start anew. Topics covered will include politics, religion (I'm LDS), realtity television, other television, crochet projects, health issues (including Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome), and other random craziness.
